ALL CHILDREN CAN SING!!
Let your voice Ring Out!
The Owen Sound Children’s Chorus,
an award-winning community choir has places for
children aged six or older who love to sing.
Fall, 2009
Owen Sound
The Owen Sound Children’s Chorus will be fifteen this year.
We all agree - this anniversary requires a special gesture that honours all the many many
people who have sung, listened, driven, phoned, joked, cried, snorted-with-laughter,
donated, coached, fed, supported, photographed, MC’d, accompanied, written, read,
attended, brought, put away, took home, witnessed, practised, brainstormed, cajoled,
carried, poured, swept up after... these past fifteen years.
Our commemorative gesture of thanks for all of this is to make something practical and
functional. This ‘thing’ will hold it’s usefulness for years and years to come. It will honour
and describe the incredible community we work and sing in; serve as an excellent source
of good humour and healthy ideas; will not sit idly on any shelf, but can be referred to and
used whenever the need arises. We’re making a cookbook. Actually, we’re making:

The Best (and the funniest) Cookbook Ever Made (by a Choir) will be approximately 180
pages (half of them in colour), and it will include recipes and stories from wherever we
could get them. It will also be an historical document. Many OSCC alumni from 10-15
years ago will be delighted to see themselves as little people again. Never before published
photographs of choir trips to Timmins, Cornwall, New York City (specifically to sing at
Carnegie Hall), Toronto, the Outdoor Education Centre and the recording studio in Ayton
will be included for our viewing pleasure. Drawings and stories from current little people
and growing people will also grace the pages. Katie Campbell, our brilliant and muchloved
accompaniest, has devoted many long hours to making beautiful collage pages which
celebrate some of the most cherished moments in 15 years. Nancy Stewart has loosed her
considerable writing skills for the book, thus giving us priveledged access to her innermost
thoughts about... page turning, for example. This book will be a treasure to all who own it -
and a perfect 2009 Christmas present!
To make this treasure, we need your help.
In exchange for our eternal gratitude, a copy (or several) of the finished cookbook, your
name in the book as a sponsor, and a tax receipt, we are asking for a financial contribution
from you to help us cover the costs of production. Once production costs are covered, the
entire proceeds from cookbook sales will go to The Owen Sound Children’s Chorus.
Please do consider becoming a sponsor of our Cookbook project. In advance, we offer our
sincere appreciation for your generosity. Thank you for helping us help ourselves!

Nancy Stewart, Founder and Director
We are an award-winning, community-based children’s choir
currently in our 14th year of making beautiful music. The Chorus
consists of three separate choirs for beginner, intermediate and
senior singers; children are placed in the appropriate choir based
on age and experience, at the discretion of the director.
Our repertoire consists of classical, contemporary, folk and world
music, with an emphasis on Canadian composers. For the first time,
our 2007 spring concert will have all Canadian content.
Rehearsals are held weekly from September to May and two
major concerts are presented annually, in December and May.
Every child has a voice; join us at OSCC in a fun and educational
venue to develop that voice. Share a sense of community that only
choral singing can offer.
